Office Online is Online version of Microsoft Word,Excel,PowerPoint and one note. It was renamed from “Office Web Apps” because many users were confused either it is an App to install or online version. Thus Microsoft renamed it to clear that you only need web browser to view,edit and create you documents.
This is a great facility that Microsoft is providing to all Desktop users and users still do not know about this Online version.
You just need your Microsoft Account to use Office online. Go to Office.com and sign in to your Microsoft Account that’s all.
All your files are saved to your One Drive(formally as Sky Drive) and users can also work  together in real time. Mean users can use same document from different places by sharing.This is an awesome feature of Online version of Office.
What is the main advantage of Office Online?
It is really useful in situations when we need to edit or create a document but we do not have access to PC or if we have access to PC we are not sure whether Microsoft Office is installed or not and if we have everything but how to move that file from that PC to somewhere else. Here Office Online is a great gift from Microsoft, Make document any where from any device and access it any where from any device.
